The Royal couple arrived at the yard by boat viewing the it's two floating docks, which arrived in the facility earlier this year. They were accompanied by Damen Shiprepair & Conversion managing director Durk-Jan Nederlof. The Royal couple were then taken on a tour of the yard by Lodewijk Franken, managing director of Damen Shiprepair Curaçao.
“The main topics of conversation were training, education and investments to increase yard capacity – all illustrating the added value of the yard to the island of Curaçao,” said Franken referring to the in-house training programme that has been implemented at the yard.
“We are proud that the Royal couple took the time and effort to visit us here – it gives us an even greater impulse to continue our commercial and operational development.”
Damen took over the yard in 2017 and it is the largest ship repair facility in the Caribbean and Central America.
