The shipyard said it was looking at the possibilities of raising up to $100m in debt financing from the international capital markets.
“The company believes that the current market conditions provide an opportunity to diversify its sources of funding at attractive terms, which will further strengthen the company's balance sheet,” Aker Philadelphia said in a statement.
It said had retained financial advisors, which it did not name.
