Alfa Laval has received US Coast Guard (USCG) type approval for PureBallast 3 with the largest reactor in its range of ballast water treatment systems (BWTS).

The PureBallast 3 with a 1,500 m3/h reactor size was launched late last year to cater to vessels with large ballast water flows. With USCG type approval for the latest system Alfa Laval customers can select any of the PureBallast 3 range for trading in US waters.

The PureBallast 3 with a 1,500 m3/h reactor size also has IMO revised G8 approval meaning it is suitable for trading worldwide.

“Customers have shown great interest in the new possibilities of the 1500 m3/h reactor for PureBallast 3,” said Peter Sahlén, head of Alfa Laval PureBallast. “Those customers who require USCG type approval can now take advantage of the full range of configurations, which extend from 32 m3/h with a skid-mounted system up to 6000 m3/h with dual systems.”
