Brazil to call tenders for port concessions

Brazil Port Secretariat (SEP) plans to launch port concessions tenders in the states of Sao Paulo and Para worth around a total of $2.2bn in March.

The government port concession programme is looking for investments of $1.54bn in 20 areas to be made in the ports of Belem, Santarem, Vila do Conde, Outelo and Miramar in the northern state of Para.

On another hand, some $800m investments are also programmed in the port of Santos, in the state of Sao Paulo.

A second public consultancy should begin February 25th, for block two, on other port concessions which include the ports of Sao Sebastiao, in the state of Sao Paulo, as well as the port of Salvador and Aratu in the northern state of Bahia, and the port of Paranagua in the southern state of Parana, according the news agency Estadao.

The tender for block two will likely be launched in the first half of this year, following government approval of the tender conditions.
