The Japanese classification society added 833 vessels with a total tonnage of 21.47m gt of new tonnage last year. The growth included 548 newbuildings with a combined tonnage of over 16m gt, or more than 25% of all new vessel tonnage delivered last year.
Some 285 vessels came from transfers from other class societies including its first US and German-flagged ships. ClassNK noted the success of its new survey operations headquarters in New York and Hamburg.

At the end of 2014 ClassNK had 8,872 on its register with a combined total of 232.87m gt.
