Crew evacuated from Pemex tanker fire
A tanker owned by owned by Mexican state oil firm Pemex caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday.

The 31 crew onboard the 40,623 dwt, 2005- built chemical/product tanker Burgos were evacuated safely when the vessel caught fire at 11-40am on Saturday.

The fire broke out in two tanks in the bow of the vessel while it was anchor. The cause of the fire on the tanker which had a cargo 160,000 barrels of gasoline and diesel onboard is not yet known.

No injuries were reported.

Pictures and video show a major blaze on the vessel with firefighting tugs battling to bring it under control.

Pemex said in a statement on Sunday that the first phase of efforts to extinguish the fire on the vessel had been concluded.
