The dry bulk shipowner announced it September that it was ordering up to 37 scrubbers with 19 firm orders and options for 18. The company has now declared 15 of those options and plans for all 34 srcubbers to be installed by the 1 January 2020 deadline for the IMO's global 0.5% sulphur cap.
Eagle Bulk says that it has developed a retrofit programme with a global manufacturer that will enable a significant amount of the work to be carried out while the vessels continue trading at sea reducing the amount of time the vessels will spend off-hire.
