According to the United States Coast Guard (USCG) a fire fighting tug arrived at 0230 hrs on Friday and a second firefighting tug is enroute. The barge being towed by the tug Patriarch is about 40 miles southeast of Freeport, Bahamas.
“There continues to be no threat to the general population or the seven crew members aboard the 127-foot tug Patriarch,” USCG said.
“The Coast Guard cutter Robert Yered is on scene to assist with communications between the vessels involved and to provide search and rescue efforts if necessary.”
