ICTSI to start work on Honduras port in October
Puerto Cortes: International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), that won the International tender for the construction and operation of the container and general cargo terminal of Puerto Cortes in Honduras, have said they will begin work on the terminal in October.  

The announcement was made after a meeting with Honduras’ Commission for the promotion of public-private partnerships (COALIANZA), that called the international tender, and ICTSI executives.

ICTSI won the bidding 1 February 2013 by offering an investment of $624.3m and a royalty per movement of teu of $19.5. The concession is for a period of 30 years and both parties have 60 days after the award to sign the contract.

The new container and general cargo terminal of Puerto Cortes will have 1,100 m of quay for containers and 400 m for general cargo, a 14 m draught, annual capacity of approximately 1.8m teu.
