New heavy-lift joint venture rolls out
Heavy lift specialists BigLift Shipping and RollDock Shipping have a announced a joint venture, BigRoll, which will operate two newbuildings.  

The two newbuildings are MC-Class Module Carriers capable of moving 22,500 tonnes each, which will be delivered between the end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015, will be employed in the onshore oil and gas renewables markets, power generation, container cranes and shipyard industries.

The MC-Class has a length of 169 m, with a beam of 42 m, giving an overall deck space of 42 by 125 m. In order to save loading time, ballast can be loaded at a rate of 12,000 cu m per hour. The vessels will also feature an ice-class notation, making them suitable for Arctic operation.
