The ten 60 tonnes-bollard pull 2810 Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) tugs will be more efficient and cost effective to help tankers manoeuvre in Venezuelan ports and will complete the PDVSA fleet of 2810 ASD tugs already in operation.
Seven of the 28m-long tugs will be supplied by Damen Shipyards Galati (Romania), while the remaining three are being built at Damen’s joint venture Song Cam yard in Vietnam. The tugs are expected to be delivered in the next months, thanks to Damen’s policy of building tugs for stock.
Venezuela's ministry of energy and petroleum reported that the average price of Venezuelan crude sold by PDVSA during the week ending 13 June rose, driven by higher oil prices worldwide as strife in Iraq and Ukraine heated up. The US is the largest importer of Venezuela’s oil exports.
