Stolt-Nielsen Gas teams up with SunLNG and LNGaz for Canada venture
Stolt-Nielsen Gas has signed an agreement with SunLNG and LNGaz to form a start-up, Stolt LNGaz, to facilitate LNG operations in Canada.

Stolt LNGaz will construct a small-scale LNG liquefaction plant to liquefy gas delivered via existing pipelines to southeast Canada. From there, LNG will be transported in LNG carriers to hubs in the Northeast of the country.

The venture is expected to spend $570m on infrastructure and services development over the next four years. If the plan is successful, Stolt-Nielsen expects that the cost advantages provided will allow surplus gas to be exported to Europe.

"This start-up investment leverages Stolt-Nielsen's expertise in marine logistics," said Niels G. Stolt-Nielsen, ceo of Stolt-Nielsen Limited. "We are pleased to be partnering with SunLNG, along with the experienced energy entrepreneurs, Bjørn Torkildsen and Rodney Semotiuk."
