“These new (reefer) units are largely to cater for the increased capacity from South America and US East Coast,” said Gareth Madsen, head of reefer management at UASC.
A new reefer units received by UASC has supported the growth of the company’s existing services and enhanced geographic access following a partnership with CMA CGM and Hamburg Sud to enter the North Atlantic trade, linking Northern Europe with the US East Coast.
“We will continue to invest in our reefer fleet to ensure sustained growth, our key focus being to provide customers with an effective approach to handling their reefer business,” Madsen said.
UASC boosts an expanding reefer fleet with an average age of three years. It pointed out that 60% of its current reefer fleet has the ability to measure the carbon dioxide levels of the cargo and automatically ventilate as required, enhancing both product quality and environmental performance.
