Accenture Indonesia head warns ports lagging behind
Accenture Indonesia managing director Cho Soo-ho is the latest business leader to warn that the country urgently needs to improve efficiency at its major ports in the face of increased competition in the shipping and logistics industry in Southeast Asia.

He was quoted in local media as saying that the trend in the shipping and logistics business was now shifting from a buyer-oriented to a customer-oriented market, with shipping companies placing more emphasis on service and efficiency than location.

As an example he said many shipping companies were reluctant to use Indonesian ports due to their slower turnaround times, leading to higher costs. The increasing competition from other Southeast Asian ports was also cited as another factor putting pressure on Indonesia's ports.
