APL is building up its Intra-Asia network with the addition of a second service string from Shanghai and Ningbo to Jakarta and Surabaya,

The introduction of the China Southeast Asia Service 8 (CS8), a weekly service that will directly connect central and southern China with Indonesia, will provide direct access from the key Chinese markets of Shanghai, Ningbo and Shekou to Indonesia’s largest port cities of Jakarta and Surabaya.

Shipments from Shanghai will arrive in Jakarta and Surabaya in as little as eight and 11 days respectively. Cargo from Shekou to these same Indonesian ports will be delivered in five and eight days respectively.

The new service complements APL’s weekly China Southeast Asia Service 6 (CS6), which also takes in a Manila call on the northbound return leg and includes additional China calls on the southbound voyage resulting in slightly longer transit times. The CS8 service will provide faster and more direct service to and from Indonesia.
