Blazing containership safely evacuated, adrift in Indian Ocean

The 1,740 teu container vessel Hansa Brandenburg is adrift in the Indian Ocean, having suffered a serious fire enroute from Singapore to Durban.

All 17 crew members are reported safe, having been picked up by Hermann Buss-owned containership Donau Trader.

The vessel was last reported 200 miles Northeast of Mauritius. While the cause of the incident has yet to be ascertained, L&B has pledged that an investigation will be conducted.
