Busan port new chief Woo Ye-jong pledges to carry on growth
Newly appointed Busan Port Authority (BPA) ceo Woo Ye-jong has pledged to carry on with the redevelopment of Busan old port as scheduled, as well as the planned upgrades to the new port.

Woo, who was appointed on 31 July this year, took over from former BPA ceo Lim Ki-tack who will move on to serve as the new secretary-general of IMO starting January 2016.

“My focus as ceo will be on strengthening the port’s competiveness by improving efficiency and keeping control of costs. It is vital that we maintain a clear strategy to ensure we retain our current position as a global container hub port,” Woo said.

Woo added that he is keen to work closely with the port’s terminal operators and to reflect their ideas and opinions in BPA’s future strategy. BPA will also help relieve some of the burden currently facing its terminal operators, particularly issues that have the potential to result in job losses.

Woo will serve for a three-year term starting 31 July 2015.
