China and Saudi Arabia ink co-operation on shipping sector

As part of a meeting between Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng and Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud at the third meeting of the China-Saudi Arabia High-level Joint Committee, representatives of each country inked in an agreement covering shipping.

China and Saudi Arabia should strengthen the synergy of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance cooperation on energy, infrastructure construction, finance, and high tech, said Han Zheng.

As well as shipping agreements were signed covering politics, energy and finance.

Saudi Arabia is willing to safeguard common interests of the two countries and work with China to deepen cooperation in developing the Belt and Road, Crown Prince Mohammed said.

In terms of shipping sector, the maritime departments of each nation will be engaged in strengthening bilateral maritime cooperation, to jointly promote the merchant shipping between China and Saudi Arabia for better cargo and passenger transportation.

The agreement will actively promote the establishment of a stable mechanism and law framework to enhance shipping business and economic links of the two countries.

The China-Saudi Arabia High-level Joint Committee was launched in 2016, it is the third meeting this year.

The Saudi Crown Prince made a two-day visit to China following visits to India and Pakistan last week.
