CMA CGM ditches Hanjin partnership on five services
CMA CGM has ditched its partnership with bankrupt Hanjin Shipping on five services.

In a notice to customers the line said that following the filing for receivership by Hanjin on 30 August it activated a contingency plan.

CMA CGM said it sent a notice of termination to Hanjin for each of the five services effective immediately.

It said that Hanjin containers already on its vessels would be delivered to their final destinations and it was no longer loading any CMA CGM boxes on vessels from the Korean line.

For CMA CGM containers already on Hanjin vessels it said they would unloaded and transferred to other vessels operated by the French line or its partners. Given many Hanjin vessels are currently stranded outside ports it was not made clear how the CMA CGM boxes would be unloaded.

On a worldwide basis Hanjin is a member of the CKYHE alliance and both Evergreen and K Line said they were not loading containers on Hanjin ships or accepting boxes from the Korean line.
