The vessels, Nikolay Yevgenov, Vladimir Voronin, Georgiy Ushakov and Yakov Gakkel, are the four of 15 vessels built for the Yamal LNG project in Far North Russia..
The four 174,000 cu m LNG ice-breakers are in 299 metres length and 50 metres width. They will be put into operation by the end of this year.
Operated by JSC Yamal LNG, a joint-venture of Novatek (50.1%), Total (20%), CNPC (20%) and Silk Road Fund (9.9%), the LNG project is based on the Yamal Peninsula, above the Arctic Circle. The project will enable year-round supplies of LNG to Asia Pacific and European markets.
The first train of Yamal project went into operation in 2017.
