Local media reports said the official is expecting the state-owned yard to win two 1,800 teu boxships from Taipei-based T.S. Lines, and six 2,600 teu vessels from Wan Hai Lines.
CSBC is also in talks with an European shipowner on containership order, and other potential orders for a semi-submersible heavylift cargo vessel and offshore vessels.
However due to the low newbuilding price environment, CSBC has been cautious in accepting new orders, the official was reported saying.
Presently, CSBC’s Keelung yard has an order backlog with progressive deliveries up till the second quarter of 2017, while the Kaohsiung facility has progressive deliveries up till the second quarter of 2018.
