As befits a birthday celebration there was a cake – well actually 210 of them – all cut at the same time.
Guest of honour for the evening was Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean who unveiled new initiatives by the government to promote maritime careers to Singaporeans.
The evening also saw the launch of the coffee table book “A Light on the Straits – Maritime Singapore”, showcasing photographs by renowned National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita.
Esben Poulsson, president of the SSA said: “I would like to pay tribute to the many SSA members, committee members, councillors and past presidents who have selflessly worked so hard and contributed so much over the past 30 years to raise the SSA to where we are today.
“As the SSA celebrates its 30th year of service to the industry, we will continue to keep abreast of critical industry developments and engage in strategic long-term planning, with an emphasis on youth, innovation and new perspectives for our Association going forward.”
The SSA has grown from 135 members when it was founded to 470 today.
