The three companies have formed Chemtrans India Private Ltd with the joint venture company designed to “generate synergies which will benefit both Elektrans and CST/ Marine Service”.

“This is yet another important milestone in Elektrans’ strategic drive and ultimate goal - to be among the best performing integrated shipping service providers and establish ourselves as reputable shipowners trading to the highest International standards,” Chopra said.

“We are proud to be associated with CST and Marine Service, companies which have a solid reputation globally and have been providing pioneering solutions over many years, especially in the field of LNG.”

Elektrans Group has provided integrated shipping services to a global customer base for 15 years including technical management, e-commerce, commercial and crew management, marine travel, ship recycling and freight forwarding services.

It owns and operates its own fleet of tanker vessels, supported by 250 shore staff and 1500 ships crew, under Gauri Ships and will continue to “aggressively expand its tanker fleet”. It has offices in India and Singapore.

Capt Michael Elwert (pictured), appointed group ceo of the Elektrans Group in April, is moderating a ‘Smart Shipping’ conference during the UAE Maritime Leaders’ Summit on October 30. The Dubai Maritime City Authority promoted summit kickstarts Dubai Maritime Week which includes the 8th edition of the Seatrade Maritime Middle East conference and exhibition at Dubai World Trade Centre from 31 October- 2 November.

CTS md Christian Krämer, commenting on behalf of Marine Service, acknowledged Chemtrans India is eyeing opportunities in India and beyond.
