Foremost Group books two more capesize bulkers at SWS
New York-based shipping, trading and finance enterprise Foremost Group has approached China’s Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) to build two additional 180,000 dwt bulk carriers, adding on to an earlier order placed in June this year.

SWS, subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), will build the bulkers to environmentally-friendly standards including the incorporation of ballast water treatment systems and for the new ships to meet the IMO Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).

In late-June this year, Foremost Group had booked a pair of the bulkers with the same specifications at SWS.

Financial details of the shipbuilding contracts were not disclosed.

Since 2002, Foremost Group has built more than 10 bulkers of 175,000-206,000-dwt in capacity at SWS.
