Former ST Marine official charged with accounting fraud

Former ST Marine official charged with accounting fraud
A former senior official at ST Marine was charged in a Singapore court on Wednesday over falsification of accounts, the company announced.

Patrick Lee, former group cfo of ST Marine from January 2001 to March 2007, was charged in the State Courts of Singapore with a total of 38 charges under section 477A of the Penal Code. Lee retired in October 2012, according to ST Marine, the marine division of Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering).

Lee’s charges followed an investigation by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) on ST Marine since September 2011.

CPIB has been probing certain transactions involving former and current employees of ST Marine, leading to earlier criminal proceedings against four former employees.

In December 2014, ST Marine announced that the four former employees charged were former president See Leong Teck, former president Chang Cheow Teck, former senior vice president (Tuas yard) Mok Kim Whang, and former group financial controller and senior vice president (finance) Ong Tek Liam.

“ST Engineering does not condone fraud, including corruption and bribery, and is fully committed to proactively mitigating the risk of its occurrence,” ST Engineering stated.
