Gold Star Line will triple its container capacity to meet growing demand on an improved weekly service connecting major ports in China and Indonesia on its existing CTI service as it upgrades vessel size from 2,500 to 4,000 teu.

This new CTI service will be launched on May 12 with three vessels on a 21-day rotation and is aiming to capture the rapidly growing trade between two of Asia’s tiger economies.

Container lines have been steadily adding capacity to the Intra-Asia trade but shippers have also warned against overcapacity which could lead to rate volatility.

“China and Indonesia are two of the fastest growing economies in Asia and we are providing an express link between major ports in both countries to meet growing demand from our customers,” said Gold Star Line md Danny Hoffmann.
