Hong Kong box numbers down 10% in October
Hong Kong: Hong Kong's container throughput continued sliding in October, with overall volumes falling 9.9% to 1.9m teu from 2.1m teu in October 2011.

At the main Kwai Tsing terminals, throughput was 5.7% lower than the year before, falling to 1.4m teu from 1.5m teu the year before. The drop at the non-Kwai Tsing terminals was almost as sharp as the month before, falling 20.9% to 460,000 teu from 581,000 teu in the previous corresponding period.

The figures were bad all around, with volumes falling sequentially as well. Between September and October, throughput was down 2.8%, 2.3% and 4.2% overall, and for the Kwai Tsing and non-Kwai Tsing terminals respectively.
