Hong Kong box throughput dips in January
Hong Kong: The port of Hong Kong recorded a dip in container throughput in January both year-on-year and month-on-month, according to figures from the Marine Department.

Hong Kong handled 1.97m teu of boxes in January 2012, a drop of 6% compared to 2.1m teu in January 2011.

Container throughput also fell month-on-month compared to 2.09m teu registered in December 2011, data from the local authority showed.

In 2011, Hong Kong moved a total of 24.4m teu of throughput, making it the world's third largest container port behind leader Shanghai and first runner-up Singapore.
