Hong Kong box volume slides 8.5% in March
Hong Kong: Hong Kong's container throughput continued to slide in March, falling to 1.88m teu, 8.5% lower than the same month the year before.

Box volume for the first quarter was also lower, falling 4.6% to 5.43m teu as weaker economic conditions take its toll on trading. Throughput may yet worsen as the impact of an ongoing strike at major terminal operator Hong Kong International Terminals (HIT) kicks in with the April figures.

Sequential volume rose however, rising 26.2% from 1.49m teu in February.
