Hong Kong container volumes rise 9% in March
Container throughput at the port of Hong Kong rose 8.7% to 1.99m teu in March from 1.83m teu in the same month last year.

The main Kwai Tsing terminals saw an 8.3% rise to 1.54m teu while the non-Kwai Tsing terminals saw a 10% spike to 450,000 teu from 409,000 teu previously.

For the year-to-date, the first quarter saw the number of boxes handled creep back up to positive territory with a 2.5% overall gain from the first three months of last year to 5.40m teu. The main Kwai Tsing terminals saw first quarter throughput rise 6% to 4.32m teu.
