Hong Kong June volumes fall 13% to 1.7m teu
The Port of Hong Kong continued its downward slide in June, with throughput falling 14% to 1.34m teu at the main Kwai Tsing terminals from 1.56m teu previously.

At the midstream terminals the fall was more muted at 8.5% to 380,000 teu from 415,000 teu but still reflects the slowing China economy that drives much of the feeder traffic that goes through them.

Overall container throughput for June fell 12.9% to 1.72m teu from 1.97m teu in June 2014.

For the first half of the year overall throughput fell 9.7% to 10.12m teu as the ongoing economic woes in China and Europe continued to weigh on the lines as well the terminal operators that serve them.
