Hong Kong throughput continues to slide
Hong Kong: Hong Kong port's container volumes continued to slide in August, falling 9.2% to 1.95m teu from 2.11m teu in August last year.

Throughput at the main Kwai Tsing terminals fell 4.4% to 1.46m teu while on the midstream and rivertrade operations at non Kwai Tsing terminals, it fell 21% to 490,000 teu.

For the year-to-date, throughput fell 3.7% to 15.63m teu and falls were also recorded sequentially. The August number at the main Kwai Tsing terminals was 5.2% lower than the 1.54m teu and overall the fall was 5.8% lower than the 2.07m teu handled in July.
