Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the joint venture partner of Pelindo II and operator of the Jakarta International Container Terminal has responded to Indonesian media reports that a government auditing agency has found irregularities in the extension of its contract to operate the terminal till 2039, expressing disappointment at the findings.

"We wish to express our disappointment with the  audit results from the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). We will study the report’s findings as soon as the details are available before making any further comments," said a HPH spokesman.

The port operator added: "For the past 18 years, the partnership between Hutchison Ports and Pelindo II has transformed the Port of Tanjung Priok into a world-class container port and the largest of the country, not to mention the improvement brought to the overall welfare of the employees and the wider community in the North Jakarta area."

"As the world’s leading port investor and developer, Hutchison Ports has always and will continue to adhere to the laws and regulations of the countries we operate in," HPH reiterated.
