The order for the two firm newbuildings comes with an option to build one more sister vessel.
The bulk carriers are slated to be delivered to the buyer at the end of 2016. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The Chinese yard Huahai Heavy will build the environmentally-friendly bulkers for fuel efficiency and to meet IMO’s Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).
This year to-date, Huahai Heavy already has an orderbook for eight eco-friendly ships.
