The specialised vessel is designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (Sdari), according to Huangpu Wenchong, subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
The shipbuilding deal was signed on 23 August and financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
Dong Qiang, chairman of CSSC, was reported saying that the contract would help entrench the shipbuilder’s knowhow in marine engineering and raise the benchmark on technology development.
