Hutchison Ports Thailand crosses 15m teu throughput milestone
Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) has recorded a milestone container handling volume of 15m teu on Wednesday since the start of operations in 2002.

HPT is Thailand’s largest container terminal operator and is currently managing and operating Terminals A2, A3, C1 and C2 at Laemchabang port with 15 quay cranes and 39 container yard cranes.

It will soon commence the construction of new deepwater facilities at Terminals D1, D2 and D3 to meet the anticipated growth in Thailand’s economy. Work is expected to start in early 2016.

The celebratory event for the 15m teu milestone was held at HPT’s Terminal C1C2 in Laemchabang port, as attendees witnessed the loading of the 15 millionth teu container onto a OOCL vessel Arica.

“We continue to improve the service we provide to our customers through further investments in equipment and technology and I have every confidence that we will be celebrating the next 15m teu in no time at all,” commented Stephen Ashworth, managing director of HPT.
