A visit by HRH Princess Anne to Jurong Port in Singapore, on Thursday, as part of an event by the Missions to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS) and Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), saw over SGD130,000 ($935,700) raised for the two charities.

Princess Anne, who is president of the Mission to Seafarers and patron of the RDA, started the morning with a horse display and presentation of Rosettes by HRH to beneficiaries of RDA.

The Princess then moved onto MTSS Drop-in-Centre where she met with volunteers, staff and seafarers.

There was also a charity auction and a one-off performance of songs by the Paul Roberts - of Stranglers fame - from his forthcoming show, “Let’s Dance – Paul Roberts sings David Bowie”.

“It is with pride that we can also link this visit to us marking this year as the 90th anniversary of our work in Singapore. We thank you (HRH) for your words of support and guidance and assure you that we take great inspiration from them and look forward to many more years under your stewardship as the President of our charity,” said Robert Walker chairman of MTSS.

Over SGD100,000 was raised through corporate sponsorship for the MTSS while a further SGD15,000 was raised through the charity auction and split equally between MTSS and RDA.
