Indon container feeder vessel sinks at Tanjung Perak anchorage

Indon container feeder vessel sinks at Tanjung Perak anchorage
The small container vessel Journey drifted into the Pelni ferry Lambelu early on Tuesday morning after weighing anchor at the East Java hub port of Tanjung Perak in Surabaya and sank shortly after, bringing its cargo of 133 containers along with it to the bottom, local reports said.

The boxes were bound for Lembar Port in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) reportedly and could not be salvaged.

"Port administration officials are questioning the Journey's captain, Kapel Hukom, to gather information about the contents of the lost containers," a Tanjung Perak Port official was quoted as saying.

"The collision resulted in the cargo ship taking on water, causing it to sink," he said. No casualties were reported following the accident and the 17 crew were rescued by other ships. The Lambelu suffered no serious damage.
