The newbuilding deal for the 115,000 dwt tankers includes an option to build two additional units, and delivery is scheduled from 2017, according to Jiangsu Hantong.
The Chinese shipbuilder said the tankers will be designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), and financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Local media cited analysts as saying that the deal for the four aframaxes could be worth $186m.
