China’s Jiangxi province has issued plans to consolidate local port resources and will set up a provincial port management company to push forward the process.

According to the plan, Jiangxi Provincial Port & Waterway Construction Investment Group, as the investor, will set up Jiangxi Provincial Port Development Group for local port resources integration and management. The provincial authorities will assign a team made up of government officials to lead the establishment of the new port group.

The new port development company is expected to complete registration as the end of September 2019.

Local ports to be integrated include Jiujiang port and Nanchang port, and terminals of Ganzhou port, Jian port, Yichun port, Shangrao port, Yingtan port and other regional ports.

In addition, Jiangxi will also upgrade and optimize local terminals and shipping channels by June 2020.

Jiangxi is located in the southeast of China, situated at the south of the mid-lower reaches of Yangtze river. The principal river of Jiangxi is the Gan river.
