Kaohsiung box volumes flat in first half
The Taiwanese port of Kaohsiung handled 4.86m teu in the first six months of this year, according to figures from the port authority.

The number of containers handled in the first half of 2013 was similar to the volumes moved in the corresponding period of last year.

“The container throughput that Kaohsiung aims to move in 2013 is 10m teu,” David Cheng, habour master of Kaohsiung port, told Seatrade Global. Kaohsiung port registered throughput of 9.78m teu in 2012.

Cheng added that the throughput target for 2014 will be decided by the port's planning and management group by the end of the fourth quarter this year.
