Maersk Line’s first Triple-E container ship the Maersk McKinney Moller made its maiden call at Busan port on Monday.

The 18,270 teu vessel has been dubbed “the world’s biggest ship” and was received by a welcoming ceremony organised by Busan Port Authority. The authority said previously the vessel was due to handle 10,000 containers.

The Maersk McKinney Moller is the largest containership on the world’s oceans to date. Some 19 sisterships are due to be delivered to Maersk Line between now and 2015. All will be deployed on the Asia – Europe trade.
