The vessels, under construction for an international consortium including Teekay LNG Partners, are due for delivery between September 2017 and January 2019. The vessels will be deployed shipping cargoes of LNG from the BG Group’s Curtis Island project in Queensland, Australia.
Each of the four carriers will be fitted with two 12V51/60DF and two 8L51/60DF engines, all of which are IMO Tier II-compliant in diesel mode and Tier-III compliant when running on LNG. On completion, the engines will be delivered from MAN’s German facility in Augsburg during 2015.
The order follows a previous deal for MAN Diesel &Turbo in July last year, when it won a contract to supply 30 MAN 51/60DF dual-fuel engines for six LNGCs, also constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua. The shipyard today reported it wouldramping up its output of LNG carrier newbuildings by 2018.
