MOL signs deal to build four methanol carriers
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has signed a contract to build four methanol carriers for charter to Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited.

Japan's MOL said the new contracts will help to strengthen the shipowner's long term business, as well as enabling the company to renew its methanol fleet by replacing older vessels with ships featuring more advanced designs.

“Global demand for methanol is expected to grow and MOL will continue expanding its services to meet the needs of a broad range of customers, building on its extensive experience and know-how as a worldwide leader in methanol transport,” MOL said in a statement.

Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) and its affiliated marketing centers in Southern Chemical Corporation in the Americas and Helm AG in Europe and Asia market approximately 51.m metric tonnes per year of methanol globally.
