The joint operation will be carried out by the LNG carrier Triputra, which conducted the project’s first discharging operation at the port of Benoa on Bali island, Indonesia.
This is the second coastal shuttle transport project following one serving for West Java, which MOL secured an order in 2011. In that project, a vessel shuttle-transports LNG to Benoa port, and discharges it to a FSU moored there.
MOL said that the charterer PEL is working to establish a gas value chain with a new method – transferring LNG discharged to FSU to the FRU moored at the pier.
“This facility regasifies the LNG and pipes the gas to a power plant on Bali. This is a groundbreaking project that pioneers a new mode of transport for natural gas,” MOL stated.
