Nine missing after barge capsizes off Singapore
Nine seafarers are missing after a barge capsized in the Singapore Strait on Wednesday.

The barge, Guo Liang 77, capsized about 7nm north of Horsburgh lighthouse in Singapore waters. The Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said it received a report of the incident at 13-00hrs on 24 July. One crew member was rescued by a Police Coast Guard craft, while another was recused by a nearby vessel. Nine seafarers are reported to be missing.

“MPA is co-ordinating the search and rescue (SAR) operations, which involves assets for aerial and surface searches. MPA has also activated commercial divers to assist with the SAR operations,” MPA said.
