NYK, Evergreen and Simatech to start Bengal Arabian service
Container lines Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK), Evergreen Marine and Simatech Shipping will jointly introduce a new West Asia service, the Bengal Arabian Service (BAS), from 27 June.

The new weekly service claims to be the only network in the market to directly connect Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan. The BAS will operate with four 1,700 teu container vessels.

The port rotation will be Chittagong, Colombo, Karachi, Mundra, Colombo and back to Chittagong.

Japan's NYK said this will be the first time for the company to deploy a container vessel to Chittagong port and it will also be a part of the diversification of the service by deploying a ship for its feeder service.
