OOCL raising container rates to Australia

OOCL raising container rates to Australia
Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is raising container freight rates from Southeast Asia, Indian sub-continent and the Middle East to Australia from early next year.

“Considering that current levels are unsustainable for the long term, we are announcing a rate restoration programme for this trade lane,” OOCL said.

The Hong Kong-based line will be increasing rates from Southeast Asia, Indian sub-continent and the Middle East to Australia by $200 per teu and $400 per feu from 15 January 2014 for all dry and reefer container shipments.

“This increase will apply on top of existing ongoing market rates and will be subject to accessorial surcharges applicable at the time of shipment,” OOCL said.
