The troubled line is facing a claim for MYR909,633 ($222,365) for container handling services, storage, stevedoring and other port terminal ancillary services by its former unit Perkapalan Dai Zhun Sdn Bhd (PDZSB).
Despite having divested and wound up PDZSB, Northport believes that it still has claim on the company, PDZ Holdings said in a stock market announcement.
“The Plaintiff avers that the justice of the case demands for PDZH to be treated as if it was the same as PDZSB,” it said adding that Northport has asked for the outstanding sum plus costs, as well as Interest at 5% per annum on the sum from the date of judgement until full settlement and also further and other reliefs which the court may deem fit and proper.
PSZ Holdings maintained that the writ is not expected to have any material financial/operational impact and that it has been advised by its lawyers that it has a strong arguable case. Case management is scheduled on 16 January 2018.
