The northern Chinese port operator said in a stock market announcement that China Construction Sixth Engineering Division has filed a suit with the Intermediate People's Court of Cangzhou City, Hebei Province suing it for payment, interest and costs on a construction project.
The plaintiff claims that the Huanghua Port Integrated Port Information Center Building which it had been contracted to build by Cangzhou Bohai Port from early 2010, had been completed by the end of August 2010.
China Construction Sixth Engineering Division is claiming payment of RMB33.9m ($5.4m) to China Construction Sixth Engineering Division for construction work done and interest on outstanding payment accruing from September 1, 2010 to the actual payment date, which amounted to RMB15.7m as at 28 November 2017 plus litigation fees and property preservation fee.
Qinhuangdao Port said it would defend the case and "actively take various measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the company".
